matic representation in Bonn re-
cently received specific instruc-
tions to raise with the West Ger-
man government the question of
Italian citizens who were victims
of Nazi deportations and who
have not received compensation,
an official of the Italian govern-
ment declared Tuesday.
Undersecretary for Foreign
Affairs Russo made the statement
in reply to questions raised by
Socialist members of Parlia-
ment. Many of the uncompen-
sated victims are Jews.
He also said that the Italian
goyernment had never failed to
raise the issue whenever bi-
lateral financial problems were
discussed with the West German
officials, adding that Italian dip-
lomats have always insisted that
an equitable solution be found
for the problem.
