A long-range plan to 'group

the Federation of Jewish Phil-
anthropies of New York into
coordinated hospital centers,
with the cooperation of medi-
cal schools, was revealed in
a new report, "Planning For
Better HOspital Care," published
by Columbia University Press.
The report on the hospital
and health agencies of the Fed-
eration was Written by Dr. Eli
•Ginzberg, prefessor of econom-
ics of Columbia University's
Graduate School of Business,
and Peter Rogatz, M.D., asso-
ciate director of the Monte-
fiore Hospital, the Bronx, pre-
" viously associate medical direc-
tor of the Health Insurance
Plan of Greater New York.
T h e subcommittee recom-
mended that the Federation's
member hospitals in New York
City be consolidated into hos-
pital centers, in affiliation with
medical schools, in order to
provide improved hospital care
along with expanded teaching
and research facilities.
The subcommittee specifically
recommended the establishment
of a Bronx Jewish Hospital
Center by affiliating three Fed-
eration general hospitals in the
borough—Lebanon, Bronx, and
Montefiore—in conjunction with
the Albert Einstein College of
Medicine. Also recommended
was the establishment of a Jew-
ish HoSpital Center of Long
Island through the association
of the Long Island Jewish Hos-
