A Message from the Council
of Orthodox Rabbis

IMPORTANT STATEMENT ON PASSOVER
We call on every Jew to observe meticulously the laws
of Passover and to remember the following points:
The greatest care must be exercised in the purchase of
all food products.
1) We call particular attention to the fact that Matzos
baked during the year not for Passovmetse," are forbidden
for Pesach. All Matzos for Pesach MUST be especially
designated for such use and carry the proper label
2) Every product must have an original label with the
certification by a bona fide rabbi or rabbinical organization.
In sase of doubt turn to your own rabbi or call the office
of- the Vaad Harabonim, TO 5-9100. A label which does
not show authoritative rabbinical endorsement is without
value and may conce

9)•The selling of Chometz must take place not later
than 10:45 A.M. on Friday, March 31st.
10) The removal and burning of Chometz , must be done
not later than 10:45 Friday morning.
11) All Bakeries must be closed from Friday, March 31st,
at 9:30 A.M., until after Passover, Saturday, April 8;7:42
Y.M. Should a baker prepare to bake before the end of the
Holiday, these products are forbidden to be used even after
Passover.
We would also like to call the attention of the Jewish
Community to the following:
A) The "term or designation "KOSHER STYLE" on
food stuff, resaurants, clubs, etc. on Passover or the year
`round means NOT KOSHER.
B) Certain restaurants and clubs advertise "traditional"
Sedorim, Bar Mitzvahs, Weddings, etc., and thereby mis-
lead the Jewish community by implication that it is kosher.
C) We have also found that some food markets have
advertised 'KOSHER' POULTRY, when all the poultry was
absolutely "TRAlF."
If you have any doubts as to Kashrut, please consult
your congregation Rabbi or call the Vaad Harabonim. -

THE VAAD HARABONIM WISHES ALL JEWS IN
DETROIT AND'EVERYWHERE A JOYOUS AND KOSHER
PESACH WHICH MAY HERALD COMPLETE REDEMP-
TION SOON AND IN OUR DAYS.
