Former Detroit Cantor Honored by Synagogue

Former Detroiter, Aaron I.
Edgar, Cantor of the Beth El
Synagogue of Omaha, Neb., was
honored by his congregation for
"25 years of devoted service"
at a special Jewish music concert.
The program featured the Beth
El Choir, which Edgar has created
and directed, and members of the
Omaha Symphony Orchestra, con-
ducted by Joseph Levine.
Edgar's training was obtained

in Europe where he studied under
a number of cantors, and coming
to America while in his teens,
he finished his musical education
at the University of Michigan.
He held cantorial positions in De-
troit, Florida and Iowa.
Now Edgar's son Rafael, trained
by his father, is ready to assume
the duties of cantor at the Adas
Israel Synagogue in Washington,

D.C.
