Noted Community Leader, R. 114-arwil Marks 80th Year ROBERT MARWIL A distinguished community leader whose participation in many causes has left indelible marks here, Robert Marwil will celebrate his 80th birthday on Feb. 20. He was born in Detroit on that date in 1881. A leading Zionist for many years, Marwil is noted for his activities for the Allied Jewish Campaign and his encourage- ment for investments in Israel through the Palestine Economic Corporation. On one of his visits to Israel, he served as representative of the United Synagogue of America. Marwil was chairman of the Keren Hayes o d (Palestine Foundation Fund) campaign in 1923-24, served Cong. Shaarey Zedek as president and served on its board for many years and was an active board mem- ber of the Hebrew Free Loan Association and the House of Shelter. He was also president of the United Hebrew Schools and the Zionist Organization of Detroit. A cap manufacturer for 25 years, Marwil was a member of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors for two years.
