AJ Congress Officials Says
Prinz Apologized to B-G
tion.

Editor, The Jewish News:
- Your editorial of Jan. 27
opposing Dr. Prinz's call fordis-
solution of the Zionist movement
expresses a valid and legitimate
point of view, and of course I
have no right to take issue with
it. However, since you link it
with Dr. Prinz's hasty criticism
of Mr. Ben-Gurion's famous
speech at the Zionist Congress, I
do think you ought to be aware
that Dr. Prinz made a public
apology (at a press conference
here in New York) for his hav-
ing been too quick to comment
on Mr. Ben-Gurion's speech. Your
readers should also be aware that
every major Jewish organization
in the country criticized the Ben-
Gurion statement on the same
day and in the same terms that
Dr. Prinz did. Among those who
expressed their views to the NY
Times and other leading papers
were Rabbi David Golovensky,

of Rabbis; Rabbi

oo quickly condemn-
ing Ben-Gurion on the basis of a
NY Times report. As a matter of
fact, Dr. John Slawson of the
American Jewish Committee has
said that a full reading of the
speech was even more damaging
than the excerpts on which his
original statement condemning
Ben-Gurion was based. Dr. Prinz,
on the other hand, stated publicly
that a reading of the full text of
the Prime Minister's speech
revealed it to be a "masterful
document" which provided "a
blue-print for building a free,
independent and mutually- bene-
ficial relationship between Israel
and the Diaspora."
