Center Alive with Activity: Fashion Averbuch - Gordon
and Photography Shows, New Class Troth Announced

The annual photography show
of the Jewish Community Cen-
ter, 18100 Meyers, featuring
the best works from the Cen-
ter's Youth and Adult photog-
raphy clubs and classes, will be
exhibited in the Center lobby
through Feb. 2. Shirley Fisher
conducts a d u l t photographic
activities; Allen Stross, youth
activities.

Center Theater will host a
meeting of the Detroit-Windsor
Theater Council 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Three Center Theater members,
Addie Beckerman, Phyllis and
Ralph Chicorel, will present
Tennessee Williams' "Lady of
Larkspur Lotion" before the
group, and a panel of leading
Detroit directors will discuss
problems of directing.

The Tween Charm Class will
hold a fashion show 7:30 p.m.
Thursday in the Aaron DeRoy
Theater. "Alice in Fashionland"
will feature clothes modeled by
class members and an original
skit. The show is open to the
public; a private reception will
follow.

Three top attractions will be
offered this spring in the Jun-
ior "Omnibus" series Sundays
in the DeRoy Theater.
The Berry Puppets will pre-
sent "Elves and the Shoemaker"
Feb. 12; the Wayne State Uni-
versity Children's Theater will
present "Seven League Boots"
March 5; and the Suzari Mar-
ionettes will present Hans Chris-
tian Anderson's "Tinder Box"
April 23. Tickets are now on
sale at the Center.

Registration for the spring
semester of the Center's Book
Review Seminar, conducted by
Dr. Samuel A. Golden of the
Wayne State University English
department, is now being taken
at the Adult Education depart-
ment office. The new term
begins Feb. 16.

A chess club for Juniors will
meet 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays
with tournaments and instruc-
tion for beginners.

Classes being offered this
semester by the art department
include "Twentieth Century Art
Lectures" and "Painting Tech-
niques of the Old Masters,"
taught by Nicholas Snow, cur-
ator of the Detroit Institute of
Arts and well-known local paint-
-er; and "Antiques for Today's
Home," taught by Joyce Black

Institute education department

Mildred Berry, puppeteer and
book fair favorite, will conduct
a puppetry class for Juniors.

Dinner Dance Feb. 12

The Hannah Schloss Old
Timers will hold their sixth an-
nual dinner dance and meeting,
the "Sweetheart Dance," at the
Statler-Hilton Hotel, at 7 p.m.,
