Bressler Expects No Mass Aliyah from West NEW YORK — Max Bressler, president of the Zionist Organi- zation of America, upon his re- turn from the sessions of the World Zionist Congress in Jeru- salem, asserted that "it was the consensus of the Congress that insofar as immigration into Is- rael from the West is concerned, no mass immigration is to be expected." He added that "in the words of Premier David Ben Gurion—which we regret were misconstrued here—the Congress aimed at the encouragement of young Jews from all over the free world in a spirit of Amer- ican pioneering to help in the upbuilding of the young and democratic State of Israel." Bressler further reported that "while the Congress attempted to stimulate Western aliyah (set- tlement) . . . its resolutions on this question implied not even permanent mass settlement on the part of American Jews but a year or two of pioneering ac- tivities by enterprising youth to help build the country." In his address, Bressler denied categorically the reports pub- lished in this country of an al- leged "political" alliance of the Zionist Organization of America with the General Zionist party of Israel.
