Roosevelt Story
Bows at Royal

Moved by his courage,
Greer Garson, as Eleanor
Roosevelt, watches as Ralph
Bellamy, depicting Franklin
Delano Roosevelt, dramat-
ically expresses his determin-
ation to resume a vigorous
life in this scene from War-
ner Bros.' Technicolor presen-
tation of "Sunrise at Campo-
bello," which comes to the
Royal Theater next Wednes-
day.

Thomas Scherman and The
Little Orchestra performing
Handel's Oratorio, "Judas Mac-
cabaeus," on Wednesday will
bring added cultural attention
to The Detroit Institute of Arts
Concert Series. It will begin at
8:20 p.m.
The "Judas Maccabaeus" of
the Thomas Scherman group of
86 will be a salute. to the Ameri-
can-Jewish community during
its observance of Hanukah. The
oratorio, as a whole, has had
relatively few performances on
the American concert stage al-
though "Sound an Alarm," the
tenor aria, and "See the Con-
quering Hero Comes" have long
been staples of the international
concert repertoire.
Thomas Scherman performed
it first in December, 1959, at
Carnegie Hall and now the orig-
inal company is on tour for
music lovers throughout the
country to enjoy a rare spiritual
and artistic experience.
