Camp Omena, the newest addi-
tion to Michigan's flourishing
camping business, is making
plans for its opening season.
The site purchased by Camp
Omena, Inc., is the former Omena
Inn acreage.
Located in
Omena, Michi-
gan, 22 miles
north of Trav-
erse City, the
camp is situ-
a t e d between
two lakes.
Grand Trav-
erse Bay will
be used for
Dr. Melton
`sailing, motor
boating, water skiing and aqua-
planing, while Lake Maugey, a
private lake, is ideally situated
for canoeing, rowboats, swimming.
instruction and fishing.
Facilities include large lodges
for housing, a dining hall, recrea-
tion hall with stage, a craft shop,
riding ring and stables and courts
for tennis, basketball, handball,
shuffleboard and volleyball. A
camp orchestra will be a special
feature. The Friday evoning pro-
gram which will highlight the
week's activity, will include serv-
ices, Israeli dancing and singing.
Camp Omena is under the per-
sonal supervision of Dr. Joseph
Melton, elementary school princi-
pal and university instructor. As-
sisting him will be Miriam Gorn-
bein, a Jewish educator.
The camp is now accepting
