• • Members of Temple Israel will be joined at Sabbath Eve services on Friday, Dec. 9, by Detroiters from many civic and communal organizations in a salute to Dr. Leon Fram on his 65th birthday. Founding Rabbi of Temple Israel 20 years ago, Dr. Fram has made scores of friends 'and stamped his name indelibly in the pattern of every significant cause for good undertaken in the Detroit area. Coming here from New York City to deliver the ser- mon and to greet his friend of many years will be Dr. Bernard J. Bamberger, spirit- ual leader of . Congregation Shaaray Tefila and president of the Central Conference of American Rabbis. The service of worship will be conducted by Rabbi M. Rob- ert Syme, . co-rabbi at Temple Israel with Dr. Fram. Special music for the occasion will be presented by the Temple's pro- fessional choir and the volun- teer choral group, under the di- rection of Karl W. Haas, music director. Mayor Louis C. Miriani is proclaiming Dec. 9 as "Dr. Leon Fram Day." At the Sab- bath Eve services on Dec. 9, Nathaniel H. Goldstick will represent Mayor Miriani and will present Dr. •am with a Key to the City o; Detroit in his name. Brief greetings will be extend- ed from the pulpit by leaders of city and state government, in which Rabbi Fram has taken a vital role by serving on many agencies and commissions. Mrs. Samuel B. Danto, -honor- ary president of the Temple Israel Sisterhood, and Harry L. Pliskow, past president of the Men's Club, have arranged the birthday celebration. Mrs. Plis- kow is in charge of the hospi- tality for the reception. A special section of the tern- _pie sanctuary will be set aside for temple officers, members of the board of trustees and civic dignitaries who will be in attendance.
