The office of the Lord Mayor
is one of great honor, keenly
sought by all financiers and
industrialists worth their salt.
Members of the ancient Livery
Companies, or Guilds, elect the
Lord Mayor. Their choice is
usually a man who, like Cae-
sar's wife, has been above re-
proach. He may not even ac-
quire shares during his year of
office, but he may retain owner-
ship of what he had. He pays
his own entertainment expenses
which run to some 10,000
pounds sterling ($28,000) dur-
ing the year and he gives his
full time and attention to his
office.

faith to hold this office, who
will take office in November,

The Lord Mayor's procession
takes place on the second Satur-
day of November by an Act of
Parliament. Sir Bernard was
asked whether he would ride in
the ceremonial coach on a
Saturday. He replied that he
was considering the question
carefully but saw no possibility
of walking in the procession for
two reasons: first, the cere-
monial gown is far too heavy
for walking in, and secondly, he
has suffered for years from an
arthritic knee which would not
stand up to the strain of walk-
ing

YOU CAN PUT IT ANYWHERE — even

in an air-
tight closet. Because there's no flame, an electric
water heater doesn't need air flow to support
combustion, or a vent to carry off fumes. There's

even a table-top model you can put under the,
counter in the kitchen or utility room. Here's the,
only heater you can always place close to point of.

HOTTER HOT WATER WHENEVER YOU NEED IT:

Some laundering requires very hot water to get
clothes really clean. Dishwashers, too, need water
that's very hot. Remember, an electric water
heater can keep on and_ an, delivering the extra -
hot water needed without burning out.

PLENTY OF HOT WATER ROUND THE CLOCK. For
dishes, laundry, baths, there's always plenty of
hot water available. Electric water heaters have
two heating units: one for normal use, the other
for those special occasions when there's an extra
demand for hot water.
