From 1906 to 1910 he was assistant headworker of Univer- Sity Settlement in New York. He served as executive director of the Hebrew Educational So- ciety-, Brooklyn, from 1906 to 1910. Dr. Bernheimer was one of the founders and a former presi- dent of the National Association of Jewish Center Workers. From 1927 until 1946 he was editor of the Jewish Center Quarterly. He was the author of books on Russian Jewish immigration to the U.S. and on the work of boys' clubs. He had written ex- tensively on social work sub- jects.
