Mock 'Senate Hearing' to Feature
Noted Participants at Beth Shalom

tivities of George Lincoln Rock-
well" founder and self - styled

Party)_ will be presented 9 p.m.
Wednesday by the Sisterhood and
Men's Club of Cong. Beth Sha-
lom, 14601 W. Lincoln, Oak Park.
"The Un-American Sub-Com-
mittee of the U.S. Senate," with
"Senator" Irving S. Cane, area
commander of the Jewish War
Veterans, as "Chairman," will
conduct a hearing to discuss the
need for federal group libel legis-
lation to control Rockwell.
Rockwell is portrayed by
Avern Cohn, chairman of the
Michigan State Bar Association,
Civil Liberties Committee, and is
affiliated with the Jewish Com-
munity Council, United Hebrew
Schools, American Jewish Con-
gress and United Jewish Chari-
ties.
William Cohen, an attorney
who has been active in com-
munal work and is on the Exec-
utive Committee of the Jewish
Community Council of Metropol-
itan Detroit, is the "Senator"
from the "State of Hamtramck"
and will interrogate

Other prominent members of
the Executive Committee, under
whose auspices the program is
being presented, to take part in
the "hearing" are: "Senator"
Louis Rosenzweig, Community
Relations Committee chairman
and a member of the 'Michigan
Fair Employment Pr a c t i c e s
Commission; and "Senator" Lil-
lian (Mrs. Philip) Bernstein,
Advisor to the League of Jewish
Women's Organizations.
Another participant will be
"Senator" Bill Goode, director of
the Michigan Labor Committee
for Human Rights. Walter E.
Klein, executive director of the
Jewish Community Council; and
Zeldon Cohen, president of the
Michigan Council of American
Jewish Congress, will also be on
hand to outline the positions of
their respective organizations.
Mrs. Robert White, Sisterhood
vice-president, and George Du-
chin, vice-president of the Men's
Club, are in charge of arrange-
ments. RefreshMents will be
served. The community is invited
to attend.
