Concentration Camp Survivor Is
Killed in Windsor Store Explosion

Rabbi Rosenbaum's
Mother Dies at 76

Mrs. Rose Rosenbaum, of
Arverne, N.Y., mother of Rabbi
Milt on Rosenbaum, of 526
Hendrie, Royal Oak, rabbi of
Temple Emanu-El, died in De-
troit Saturday night at the age
of 76.
She had been ill for several
months and lived in Detroit
with Rabbi Rosenbaum during
the period of her illness.
Her body was taken to New
York for burial. Funeral serv-
ices were held Tuesday. The
family is at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Rosenbaum,
40 Ocean Parkway, Brooklyn.
Besides her sons, Rabbi Mil-
ton Rosenbaum and Charles
Rosenbaum of Brooklyn, Mrs.
Rosenbaum is survived by her
sisters, Mrs. Joseph Reich and
Mrs. Harold Pohl, of Brooklyn;
four grandchildren and a great-
grandchild.

Tributes to Mrs. Osnos,
Trees Memorialize Her

The Jewish Women's'European
Welfare Organization planted 25
trees • in the JWEWO Forest in
Israel in memory of Bella Osnos.
Tributes to Mrs. Osnos were
paid by many organizations and
individuals.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sam
(Bella) Osnos, who died in
Miami Beach Oct. 17, were held
at Kaufman Chapel Oct. 20.
Rabbis Morris Adler and Isaac
Stollman and Cantor J. H. Son-
enklar officiated.

creative periods in Jewish his-
tory—the Middle Ages—will be
offered by the extension depart-
ment of the Midrasha of the
United Hebrew Schools begin-
ning 8:30 p.m. Thursday for 12
hourly sessions.
Led by Shlomo Steinberger,
the course will consider the
delineation of social and intel-
lectual concepts in the Jewish
co mmunity.
Steinberger is .a graduate of
Kings College, London Univer-
sity, and attended the Hebrew
University in Jerusalem. He has

Michael Zack lost their parents
in Nazi concentration camps in
Poland and Germany. After they
were freed by the allies, Zack
came to Canada—"to start a new
life"—and opened a small print-
ing shop in Windsor.
"We survived the Nazis, and
now this," the father told a hos-
pital official.
The Zacks also have a daugh-
ter, Leah, 15.
Attending the funeral of Mrs.
Zack Wednesday were Mr. and
Mrs. Alec Ungar, 19944 Stans-
bury, Detroit. Mrs. Ungar suf-
fered through the concentration

A 37 - year - old mother and
survivor of Nazi concentration
camps in World War II fell into
an abyss she could not combat
Tuesday.
Mrs. Rachel Zack was one of
ten persons known to have lost
their lives in the explosion of
the Metropolitan Store in Wind-
sor.
Her son, Sidney, 5, was with
her. when the floor opened be-
neath them and she disappeared
in the wreckage, apparently
fallen to the floor below. The
boy suffered a broken leg.
