TEL AVIV—One United Arab
Republic MIG-17 jet fighter plane
was apparently hit in a short
clash with Israeli jets over the
central Negev Wednesday morn-
ing.
Israel officials said that two
MIGs were seen crossing over
into Israel airspace from Sinai
and Israeli planes intercepted
therh about eight miles inside
Israel.

long illness. He was 73.
For 12 years, Abelman was
connected with-the Jewish Hos-

non-Jewish as well as Jewish
causes.
