Milton Shaw last week re-
ceived the Navy's Distinguished
Civilian Service Award in Wash:
ington for his work in design-
ing nuclear compulsion plants
as an aide to Admiral Hyman
G. Rickover, father of the first
atomic submarine, the Nautilus.
Shaw, who is director of the
Advanced Nuclear Plant De-
sign Division of the Bureau of
Ships, 'was cited for "original
thinking" in his work on the
first nuclear-powered aircraft
carrier and the first large atomic
p wer station at Shippingport,
Pa. He is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. W. M. Shaw, Knoxville,
Tenn.
