Jewish Poet, Shmuel Halkin, Dies in Russia TEL AVIV, (JTA)—Shmuel Halkin, well known Yiddish author, poet and playright liv- ing in the Soviet Union, died there last week, and impressive funeral services were held for him in Moscow last Friday, the second day of Rosh Hashanah. He was 61. The services were held at M o s c o w' s "Writer House." Among the wreaths placed on the coffin was one from the Israel mission in Moscow and another inscribed in Yiddish from "the Yiddish Writers."
