ISTANBUL, (JTA) — A cam-'
paign by Turkish students to
force Ladino. and French speak-
ing Jews and other minorities
to speak only Turkish in pub-
lic places was ordered stopped
by Turkish authorities.
General Refik Tulga, mili-
tary governor of Istanbul, who
originally supported the effort,
told representatives of the Tur-
kish National Students Union
to end it immediately.
He said that the campaign
had turned out to be "against
Turkey's national interests and
international obligations." Later
the general told reporters that
"nothing is so natural for all
citizens and foreigners in Tur-

(JTA) — A resolution urging
the organization of Jewish stu-
dents in South America to fight
anti-Semitism was approved at
a session of the South Ameri-
can executive of the World Jew-
ish Congress.
T h e delegates resolved t o
convene in 1961 the fourth con-
ference of South American Jew-
ish communities. Also discussed
was the problem of Nazi crim-
inals who have taken refuge in
South America and the role of
the World Jewish Congress in
exposing them.
Dr. Moses Weiler of Israel
reported on plans for the con-
struction of Bet Hatfuzozot in
Israel. Israel Ambassador Yitz-
hak Harkavy spoke on the work
of the WJC in present Jewish
policy. The delegates held a
general review of recent politi-
cal events affecting Jewish life
in South America.
