Bonds Aid Immigrant Housing
A member of the Israeli kibbutz Tsora works on the construe-
tion of a new dwelling to help house Israel's growing popula-
tion. Since its establishment as an independent state, Israel has
built more than a quarter of a million housing units with the
aid of Israel Bond funds. The settlement, which is now 12 years
old, was founded on the day Israel achieved statehood in 1948.

with the adoption of a budget of
$9,875,000 for its 1960-61 pro-
gram in Israel and the United

$3,340,000 earmarked for Hadas-
sah's operations in Israel. The
quotas set for Hadassah's proj-
ects in Israel were $3,740,000 for
the Hadassah Medical Organiza-
tion; $2,300,000 for Youth Aliya;
$1,000,000 for the continued con-
struction of • the $25,000,000
Hadassah - Hebrew University

Nov Settled in Israel
JERUSALEM, (JTA)—More
than half of the 7,200 claims
submitted by Israeli Arabs for
compensation f o r confiscated
property have been settled since
payments were started in 1954,
the Ministry of Finance re-
ported.
A Ministry spokesman said
that in the settlement of the
4,200 claims, the Arab claim-
ants have received to date more
than $4,000,000 in cash, 7,000
acres in land and hundreds of
building plots and other prop-
erty. He added that claims were
still being received by the Is-
rael Development authority to
which 2,250 acres of land and
other property was transferred
in accordance with the Aban-
doned Property Law of 1950
and the Land Purchase Law.
