to Charles H. Tator Cyprian Award

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Guterman, 20434 • Schaefer, gave a
garden party for their son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and
Marilyn, who were visiting from New York where they were
married this June. Approximately 30 guests attended the affair
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hassell on Greenlawn Ave.
Stanley is working towards his doctorate in sociology at Columbia
University, where he was recently awarded a U.S. Government
Fellowship to do research on blind children and adolescents.
Marilyn, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Lefkowitz of
Brooklyn, is a surgical nurse at Bellevue Hospital.
Detroit Socialites extends an invitation to the public to attend
a dance and wiener roast 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Cong. Beth Abraham.
The Detroit Social Club of Greater Miami will hold a regular
meeting following the High Holy Days.
The Royal Order of the Sneeze, the official hay fever organiza-
tion headed by President Milton Bernstein of Detroit, is enjoying
a pollen-free vacation at the Fontainebleu Hotel in Miami Beach.
The group is comprised of more than 250 members who leave their
northern homes in August and September for the low pollen count
of Florida. For information about the group, call UN 4-6244.
Bonnie Lask was honored recently at a bridal shower given
by her aunts, Mesdames Lawrence L. Shapiro, Irving Schane,
Louis Aston and Arnold Taylor of Bay City, at Larco's Inn.
Seventy-five guests attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Shifman and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Trunsky recently attended the international convention of Sigma
Alpha Mu fraternity at Montreal.
Dr. and Mrs. Charles Gitlin have returned from a vacation
in the Heldeberg Mountains, near Albany. During their Eastern
tours, they visited with Dr. Gitlin's sister, Mrs. Ethel Ball, and
her son, Dr. Stanley Ball, assistant professor of neurology at
Albany Medical College, in Albany, and with their niece and
nephew, Mr. and Mrs. George Hillelson, in Pleasantville, N. Y.
They also attended the Tanglewood concerts.
William Schumer, who returned recently from an extensive
tour of Israel with Mrs. Schumer, described his experiences
before Arlazaroff Branch of Jewish National Workers Alliance
at a meeting on Wednesday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Winokur celebrated their 52nd weddin
anniversary at a supper party given by their children, Mr. an
Mrs. Isadore Stein and sons, and Marvin Winokur.
Mr. and Mrs. Isidore Goldberg and daughter, Adrien
formerly of Fairfield Ave., are now in their new home at 218
Ridgedale, Oak Park.
Raymond Gilbert and family. wife, Joyce (Benzie, formerl
of Boston), and daughter, Karen Victoria, have arrived from
New York where he is studying grand opera, to stay with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Gilbert, 24331 Cloverlawn, Oak
Park. Gilbert will be guest cantor at Temple Israel's High Holy
Day services for the third year in succession. A graduate of
Brandeis University, the Longy School of Music, the Juliard
School of Music and a personal student of Leonard Bernstein,
he has appeared in concerts in the east and Texas during the
past two years.
Martin Felder, Harold Robinson and Max Pincus this week
were named to leading positions of the retail division of the
United Foundation drive, which will commence an Oct. 18.
