Kusworm, chairman of Bnai Brith commission on citizenship and civic affairs, examine a wall case of mementos from the career of Justice Benjamin Cardoza at a special exhibit of Jewish contributions to U. In an address formally opening the exhibit Justice Clark paid tribute to Jewish fundamental law which "has sought to bring to reality the brotherhood of man." Kusworm conceived the display depicting early Hebraic in- fluence in jurisprudence and citing legal careers of 35 famed American Jews. WASHINGTON—Congressmen are preparing requests that th State -Department declare bassador Mostafa Kamel of United Arab Republic to b sona non grata because of terference in the America tion. This resulted from h precedented innuendo attac Senator John F. Kennedy and t American Jewish community. Enraged by Sen. Kennedy's address to the Zionist Organiza- tion of America convention, the Arab Ambas'sador called on 4,000 Arab students, all foreign na- tionals, to work in the United States election campaigns against Israel and Jewish interests. How can a foreign ambassa- dor legally instruct his na- tionals to "combat" a political candidate in another country? There has been enough diffi- culty with American bigots in- jecting religious issues into the election without the UAR Em- bassy entering the fray. The State Department has ob- tained the text of the Ambassa- dor's vocal intrusion into the do- mestic American scene. Even pro- Arab officials in the Department were dismayed, not so much at the content but because of the crudity. Addressing a national meeting of Arab 'students in Washington, Ambassador Kamel told them "it is your duty" to do propaganda work in the election. He instruct- ed holders of temporary student visas on how to agitate against political candidates and a section of the American public. The State Department, eager to avoid a diplomatic issue with the Nasser regime, has re- mained cautiously silent, de- clining all comment on the mel brazenly and undiplo- atically ins ted his own na- tionals it s their uty' to "tell yo Americ f • ds" about th t •ol- icy and . Substantial gains were re- corded in the battle of school officials against overcrowding. The new school term opened with 450 "second shift" classes which are held in the afternoon for lack of classroom space. There were 5'77 such classes last year and 789 in 1958. The progressive decrease was achieved despite population in- creases from natural growth and from immigration. The current high school en• rollment was reported at 73,- 000 compared with 61,000 in the previous year. Attendance at Arab schools also was increased, with 35.000 Arab children in elementary schools and 5,000 in state kin- dergartens. Long Established Children's Itural and Educational piro- m.
