IRWIN ALPERN Barbara Elaine Sorscher, daughter of Mrs. Shirley Sor- scher of Oak Park, and the late Mr. Sorscher, became the bride of Irwin Sherwood Alpern, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Alpern of Bay City, in a garden wed- ding at the summer home of the bride's aunt and uncle, Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Sorscher. The double-ring 'ceremony on Sept. 4 at Lake Fenton was of- ficiated by Rabbi Hayim Donin and Cantor Hyman Adler:-. The bride wore a gown 'of white peau satin with a cathed- ral-length train. Her veil of white silk illusion was held in place by a satin headpiece. She carried a Bible covered With an orchid and stephanotis. Attending the bride were Phyllis Marks, maid of honor, and bridesmaids, Phyllis Alpern, sister-in-law of the bridegroom; Randee Sorscher, Sally Sor- scher and Sandra Sorscher, cousins of the bride. Wendy Hauser was the flower girl. Eugene W. Alpern served as his brother's best man. Ushers were Irving Sorscher, brother of the bride; Marvin Sage, David Caplan and Gerald Katchman, a cousin of the bridegroom. Out-of-town guests attended from Chicago, Bay City, Los Angeles, Miami Beach, Cincin- nati and Rahway, N. J. Following a honeymoon in the Catskills, the couple will reside in Detroit. Israel for post graduate study at the University of Jerusalem. Michigan Home Society President Nathan Pritz and wife, 20533 Braile, were honored Aug. 31 at their home by the group's entire membership on occasion of their 35th wedding anniversary.
