MELVYN FELD- MAN, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Friedman, 2647 Elmhurst, June graduate of Central High School. The topic of his essay was "Civil Defense—An Ameri- can Tradition." Melvyn, a Phi Beta Kappa honor student, pre- viously won a Detroit Police Citizenship Award. He is enter- ing the University of Michigan to study medicine. * * * MRS. KENNETH SOBLE In a double-ring ceremony at Cong. Bnai David, Doree Ellen Zuckerman became the bride of Kenneth Arnold Soble, Sunday. Rabbi Hayim Donin and Cantor Hyman J. Adler officiated. The parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Jack Zucker- man of George Washington Dr. and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Soble of Rutland Dr., both of South- field. The bride wore a filll-length gown of white satin and Alen- con lace. Fashioned with a por- trait neckline of lace and short sleeves, the gown repeated the Alencon lace pattern on the fit- ted bodice and the epplique- paneled dome shaped skirt which ended in a graceful chapel train. Her bouffant veil of imported silk illusion cas- caded from a crown of Alencon lace re-embroidered with bridal seed pearls and sequins. The bride carried a white satin and lace heart with white orchids. Her aunt, Mrs. Ben Stocker, was matron of honor. Mrs. Jerome Soble and Mrs. Alan Soble were bridesmaids. Michelle Soble was junior bridesmaid, and Debbie Sue Partrich was flower girl. The bridegroom's brothers, Jerome Soble and Dr. Alan Soble, were best man and usher, respectively. Other ushers in- chided Stuart and Steve Zucker- man, the bride's brothers. Larry Jay Stocker was junior usher, and Mitchell and Richard Soble were ring bearers. Out of town guests were from California, Chicago, and New York.
