Ash World Jewry toPi ay for Return of Holy Places Direct JTA Teletype Wire to The Jewish NeWs JERUSALEM—Rabbi Itzhak Nissim, Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, called on all Jews throughout the world Monday to pray for the return of the holy places and to seek the right of access to the Wailing Wall, traditionally believed to be the western wall of the Temple. The Wailing Wall in the old city of Jerusalem is in Jordanian hands and Jews are not permitted to visit it despite the terms of the Jordanian-Israeli armistice assuring freedom of access to the holy places Rabbi Nissim's call was issued in his message for Tisha b'Ab, the Jewish day of morning for the destruction of the Temple observed Tuesday by Jews the world over. The Israel Parliament adjourned Monday until Wednesday in ob- servance of the fast, and all movie houses and other places of enter- tainment in the country were closed Monday night. Most Government offices where employees had the option of not working Tuesday were only partly staffed. Jewish Agency offices were closed for the day. The Israel State Radio featured special pro- grams on Jeremiah's Book of Lamentations, Tisha b'Ab prayers and songs of consolation. JERUSALEM—Victims of Nazism claiming restitution for property seized in certain areas of Poland under Nazi control . at the time will no longer have to prove that their property was transferred to Germany in order to obtain compensation, the Israel Finance Ministry announced Tuesday. Previously, claimants were required to prove that their confiscated assets had been physically transferred to German territory in order to qualify for compensation. Such proof was virtually impossible to establish. The German restitution author- ities, however, under a nc . v ruling have accepted evidence that there was systematic transfer of confiscated assets from the "government general" of Poland and from the cities of Posen, Kattowice and Lodz, and the individual claimants no longer have to prove the transfer took place. Claimants for property seized in Czechoslovakia, Yugo- lavia and Hungary will still be required to prove that their property had been transferred to Germany. Two Rockwellites Arrested; DefacedBnaiBrithBuilding WASHINGTON, (JTA) — Police Sunday announced the arrest of two of George Rockwell's neo-Nazi "stormtroopers" on charges of defacing the National headquarters building of Bnai Brith. The two Nazis arrested, Daniel Burros, 23, and John Patler, 22, were living in the "barracks" maintained by Rockwell in Arlington, Va., and are members of Rockwell's bodyguard. They were arrested in front of the White House when they appeared with other Nazis to picket in protest against the confinement of Rockwell in a mental hospital by order of the District of Columbia court. Police said bond would be set at $500 each for the two neo-Nazis. (See Earlier Story on Page 3.) Joseph G. Weeda, Commander of the District of Columbia Department of the American Legion, said he had asked the executive committee of the American Legion to seek a Con- gressional investigation of Rockwell's "American Nazi Party." The matter is being taken up in Legion circles as a result of Commander Weeda's action. Municipal Court Judge George B. Neilson rejected a de- fense motion to reconsider his commitment of Rockwell to the District of Columbia , General Hospital. James K. Hughes, Rockwell's attorney, offered to intro- duce new evidence that the neo-Nazi had been committed without justification. Hughes said two psychiatrists at St. Eliz- abeth Hospital in Washington, David Owens and Maurice Platnik, had volunteered to examine Rockwell and had spent almost four hours with him. Dr. Owens came to the courtroom with Hughes to testify. Clark King, assistant corporation counsel, said that the hearing was not a session to determine whether Rockwell was sane. He said this would be determined by the results of the pSychiatric testing Rockwell was now receiving in the hospital. King argued that the only question at issue was a prima facie showing of Rockwell's incompetency to stand trial. In turning down the defense motion, Judge Neilson said that "we sat here for five hours and listened to competent testimony which made out a prima facie case." The judge also declared that Rockwell, by continuing his public exhibitions in the nation's capital after having been before Neilson previously, had "raised the question of his competency. Are we going to let him continue these exhibitions?" LONDON, (JTA) — The more hysterical President Nasser of the United Arab Republic continues to get over the statement made by the Shah of Iran reit- erating his country's de facto recognition of Israel, the more obvious it becomes here that his attacks on Iran are aimed at gaining more favor in the eyes of the Soviet government which is unfriendly to the Shah. Nasser needs now Moscow's favor more than ever, because the Soviet gov- ernment has recently shown inclination not to supply him with spare parts for Soviet-built military planes which he had acquired from the Soviet Union. Soviet pressure on Nasser is growing ever since it was announced that Israel had bought more jet bombers of the latest type from France which does not sell any arms to Egypt. Aware of the fact that Nasser is now dependent on Moscow more than ever before, the Soviet government is seeking to maneuver him to a point where he could be useful in Moscow's hostile attitude toward the present regimes in Iran and Turkey. It was reported here that Iran has closed its consulate in Damascus, capital of the Syrian sector of the United Arab Republic, to complete its break in diplo- matic relations with U.A.R. It was reported also that the Saudi Arabian ambassador in Teheran left for home to report to his government on the dispute between Iran and the U.A.R. Efforts on the part of Nasser to induce governments of other Arab states to break off relations with Iran have so far brought no results. Reports received here from various Arab countries indicate that their governments are hesitating to take any action against Iran. Determined not to be isolated in his extreme action against Iran, Nasser summoned his ambassadors from all the Arab countries to Cairo to discuss the problem with them. At the same time Nasser's Foreign Ministry ordered the Iranian Ambassador to hasten his departure from Cairo. It is now obvious that Nasser is afraid that Iran's courageous example may be emulated by other Moslem countries which are abstaining from giving recog- nition to Israel. Nasser's Foreign Minister Mahmoud Fawzi indicated publicly in Cairo that the United Arab Republic is planning a boycott against Iran similar to that of Israel. However it is questionable whether other Arab countries would fol- low Nasser's lead in this respect. The question may come up before the Arab League Council, but the Council does not Meet before Aug. 22. Shabtai Rosenne, legal adviser to the Israel Foreign Ministry, met with Argentine Pres-. ident Arturo Frondizi and Foreign Minister Di °genes Taboada, in Buenos Aires to seek a solu- tion to the issue.
