Rappaport Seeks Lawyers' Poll Picks
for Probate
Oakland County Adams
Donald E. Adams was' winner
Prosecutor's Post of a poll conducted by the Oak-

Alvin S. Rappaport, well
known attorney, of 3570 Middle-
bury Lane, Bloomfield Town-
ship, is seeking the Democratic
nomination f o r Prosecuting
Attorney in Oakland County.
Born in Cleveland, in 1913,
he came here several years
later and has resided here since.
He is • a graduate of Central
High School and the University
of Detroit Law School and has
practiced law here for 22 years.
He is an active member of
the Michigan Bar and for four
years served as attorney with
the U.S. War Department,
having received the Award of
Merit for "excellence and
fidelity in the performance of
duty." Ile is a member of the
12-man University of Detroit
Civic and Alumni Advisory
Committee.
Rappaport "received many
intercollegiate athletic cham-
pion awards. He is a former
director of the Athletic _Scholar-
ship Foundation.
A member of Temple Israel,
he served on its building fund
committee. He has been active
in the Anti-Defamation League.
A champion of civil rights,
Rappaport has gained the sup-
port of many liberal and labor
groups. He is gaining favor in
Oakland County for his declara-
tion that he is not seeking the
Prosecuting Attorney's office as
merely a "political" job but
because he considers it a
"highly specialized professional
office requiring a specially
trained professional man . . .

maneuvers."

Kaufman Enters Race
for Oakland County
Probate Court Judge

David Kaufman, an attorney
with the law firm of Schmier
and Schmier, has announced he
is a candidate for probate judge
in Oakland County.
There is no incumbent run-
ning for re-election to the newly
created post. The State Legis-
lature only recently provided
for a second probate judge in
the county.
A graduate of the University
of Michigan College of Law,
Kaufman was affiliated with
Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity.
Married and the father of one
child, he lives at 29550 Everett,
Southfield. .

Woodhull Sisterhood
Sets Luncheon-Social

A major fund-raising event of
the Sisterhood of Zev Shalom
Synagogue, Woodhull Lake, will
be a luncheon social to be held
from noon to 5 p.m., Wednesday,
at the cottage of chairman Mrs.

Adams is a past president of
the Michigan Justices of the
Peace Association and is cur-
rently on the Michigan Water
Safety Commission.
