LT. GOVERNOR JOHN B.
BECAUSE
Here is what the
DETROIT NEWS
wrote about SWAINSON
last Friday!
.
"Swainson is the youngest man to run for the
state's highest office in recent years. He is a
35-year-old Detroit lawyer who has refused to
capitalize on his loss of both legs, his Croix de
Guerre for heroism as an infantryman in France.
"The present lieutenant governor was born in
Windsor, Ont., attended Olivet College, took his
law degree at the University of North Carolina
in 1951. He, his wife Alice and their three chil-
dren live in Plymouth.
"Swainson served two terms in the state senate
before his election to his present post as its
presiding officer (Lt. Governor) in 1958. He has
proved himself an able legislator, a forceful.
speaker."
