Wechsler's 'Reflections': 'Search
for Light in Democratic Window'

As editor of the New York
Post, as one-time associate of
PM, as Washington correspond-
ent and as author of many mag-
azine articles, James A. Wech-
sler has been known for many
years as an outstanding news-
paperman.
His experiences are recorded
in a challenging book of remi-
niscences, "Reflections of an
Angry Middle-Aged Editor,"
published by Random House.
Translate the term "angry"
into "fighting" and you have
the mood of a man who de-
terminedly battled for the right
as he saw it, for justice for
the downtrodden.
He is in constant search for
"a light in the democratic
window."
And so, he writes about men
and myths, about personalities
and issues, about challenges to
our way of life and the frustra-
tions that come the way of a
fighting editor who meets with
obstacles on the road to pro-
gress.
