for Tisha b'Ab

The traditional mid-summer
appeal in behalf of the Jewish
National Fund and its land re-
clamation and soil development
projects in- Israel will be con-
ducted in congregations in
Michigan- and congregations
around the nation next month
on the occasion of Tisha b'Ab,
which occurs on Aug. 2, it was
announced by Phillip Stollman
and Norman Allan, co-chairmen
of the JNF religious groups
committee.
An appeal ,issued by Stollman
and Allan urges rabbis and
synagogue lay leaders through-
out the state to carry on the
traditional appeal for the JNF
on Tisha b'Ab so that every wor-
shipper has an opportunity to
demonstrate his devotion to the
land and people of Israel. The
appeal points out that by virtue
of the recent agreement with
the government of Israel, the
JNF has been charged with the
sole responsibility for the re-
habilitation and developneni. of
Israel's land owned by the
State, as well as the JNF's own
great holdings.
Stollman and Allan are also
urging that Shabbat Chazon,
the Sabbath preceding Tisha
b'Ab and Shabbat Nachmu, be
devoted to Keren Kayemet.
