The Jewish community of
Flint feted two of its most dis-
tinguished "senior" leaders at
a testimonial reception held re-
cently at the Beth Israel Social
Hall.
Jacob Pines and Israel Send-
ler were honored for their life-
long dedication to Zionism and
their pioneering efforts on be-
half of Jewish education, UJA,
Israel Bonc:s and Jewish Na-
tional Fund.
A plaque bearing their names
will be erected in the Michigan
Room of the Kfar Silver Agri-
cultural Institute in Israel, a
project of the Michigan Region
and the Zionist Organization of
America.
Sparked by the Flint Zionist
District and a city-wide commit-
tee of Jewish leaders, the Kfar
Silver effort in honor of the two
leaders was directed by Louis
Kasle, Harry J. Binder and Mur-
ray E. Moss, who also conduct-
ed the ceremonies at the recep-
tion.
Jacob Pines, a native of
Russia, served in the Jewish
Legion in World War I and has
been a leading force in every
pro-Israel endeavor in Flint. He
is a past president of the Flint
Zionist District and the Beth
Israel Congregation.

Also on hand to greet their
brother from Israel were Ber-

The reunion marks the first
