nounce the engagement of their
daughter, Janet, to Dr. Harold
W. Jaffe, son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. S amu el Jaffe. The
couple will wed on Sept. 18.

Student Zionists Set
Maple Beach Outing

Singing and dancing under
the stars will cap a day's fes-
tivities for the Student Zionist
Organization, which has planned
an all-day outing at Kensington
Park, July 10.
The group of university stu-
dents has issued an invitation
to all who are interested to
meet at 9 a.m., at the Hayim
Greenberg Center, 19161 Schae-
fer. From there, they will drive
out to Maple Beach. Those with
cars are asked to help provide
transportation. All are asked to
bring swimsuits and lunches.
Another group will leave the
Hayim Greenberg Center at 6
p.m., that day. A bring-your-
own barbecue will be held at a
meeting place yet to be an-
nounced. Community singing
and folk dancing will be held.
Other functions planned for
the summer months are a canoe-
concert outing at Bele Isle and
a. theater party for "The Story
of Ruth."

Opening of a 25x50 foot fan-
shaped swimming pool at the
Great Lakes Yacht Club, Jeffer-
son and E. 9 Mile Rd., was
announced this week by John
L. Mayer, commodore.
Individual and group swim-
ming instruction will be super-
vised by an American Red
Cross - licensed lifeguard, who
will supervise operation of the
pool, according to Dr. Maurice
Tatelman, chairman of the pool
committee.
A children's wading pool and
a large addition to the club-
house to provide more locker
space are par'i: of the new facili-
ties; he added.
The club has a fleet of five
Fibreglas sailboats for the use
of members, and provides dock-
ing facilities for member-owned
boats. Sailing instruction and
sailboat races are available. In
addition, there is a play and
barbecue area.
A limited number of mem-
berships to the club are still
being taken, said Austin A.
Kantner, membership chairman,
who added that the club rolls
will be limited to 125 families.

Dr. Bernard Weston and Dr.
Eugene I. Pious have been re-
elected to the board of trustees
of the American Physicians Fel-
lowship, Inc., for the Israel
Medical Association, it was an-
nounced today.
Weston, who is president of
the Detroit chapter, was re-
named chairman of the public
relations committee of the na-
tional organization.
The group has sent more than
$100,000 in cash and bonds to
the Israel Medical Association
for loan funds, the Jerusalem
Academy of Medicine and other
needs, it was reported at the
recent annual meeting.
The organization provides,
also, for fellowships, residen-
cies, books, equipment and lec-
tures in Israel by outstanding
American doctors.
