- Judge and Mrs. Theodore
Levin, of Cambridge Rd., have
announced the engagement of
their daughter, .Miriam, to
Charles Donald Lieber, of New
York City.
Since Miss Levin received her
graduate degree from the Uni-
versity of Chicago, she has been
working in the field of survey
research, and recently in asso-
ciation with the Harvard Uni-
versity graduate school of edu-
cation.
:Mr. Lieber, the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Edmund Lieber, of
Larchmont, N. Y., served in the
U. S. Army in India and
Burma and in _the Pentagon
during World War H. He is a
graduate of the University of
Brussels and of the New School
of Social Research in New
.York.
After a July wedding, the
couple will make their home in
New York • City, where Mr.
Lieber is an editor with the
Random House publishing firm.

Envoy Is Mrs. Silver
Mrs: Albert Silver, 19931
Marlowe, will be a delegate to
the . 46th annual Hadassah con-
vention Sept. 11 to 14 in New
York City.
Vice president of education
of the Schaefer Group of Ha-
dassah, she was picked as rep-
resentative for winning the
local Membership Award. All
expenses will be paid by the
Detroit chapter.

Ravitz Asks Voters
Not to Elect Him
Dr. Mel J. Ravitz, who had
previously won the endorsement
of the Wayne County AFL-CIO
County for the Detroit Corn-
Mon Council vacancy, this week
urged supporters not to vote
for him, citing "family health
reasons" for his change of mind.
Dr. Ravitz, associate professor
of sociology and anthropology
at Wayne State University, is
entered in the Aug. 2 primary
for the Council seat left vacant
by the appointment of James
Lincoln to the Probate Court
bench.
Because the deadline for with-
drawals had expired, Dr. Ravitz
could not have his name re-
moved in time for the primary,
and it will appear on the ballot.
Mrs. Morris Miller, recently
re-elected as president of the
Jewish Women's European Wel-
fare Organization, will preside
at the first meeting of the new
administration planned for 12
noon, Tuesday, in the Davison
Jewish Center.

dinner to be held in Miami
Beach this winter and other de-
tails of the women's division

Detroit chapter already has
more than 30 life members, Mrs.
