Landsmanshaften Propose
Planting Joffe Woodland

A resolution urging the Jew-
ish bmmunity Council to
memorialize the name and work
of Boris M. Joffe, by planting
a forest of 10,000 trees, to be
known as the Boris M. Joffe
Memorial Forest, was adopted
at a breakfast meeting of Lands .-
manshaften for Jewish National

Fund held recently. Because
Landsmanshaften were part of
the Community Council, and be-
cause of Joffe's interest in the
work of the societies, the meet-
ing agreed to recommend to
Landsmanshaften to participate
in the creation of a Joffe Wood-
land with a grove of 1,000 trees.
Another resolution recom-
mended to Lansmanshaften was
the planting of trees and in-
scriptions in the Bar Mitzvah
Book as gifts to Bar- and Bas-
Mitzvahs.
Morris J. Brandwine, newly
elected president- of the JNF,
described his first trip to Israel.
Harry Kaminer, chairman of
the committee, presided.
