Short-Cake Now All Year 'Round

With fresh fruit season approaching—as a matter of fact
at any time of year with frozen fruits and berries—there's no
reason to ignore such treats as shortcake. And with vacuum-
packed Dromedary Date-Nut Roll waiting fresh and flavorful
on your pantry shelf, it's not even necessary to bother with
baking. Here's a recipe for Date-Nut Shortcake that's good for
family or surprise company any time:
DATE-NUT SHORTCAKE
1 package frozen - fresh whole
1 tin Dromedary Date-Nut Roll

strawberries (or equivalent in
1 cup heavy sweet cream
fresh berries)
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
2 bananas, sliced
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Chill date-nut roll in refrigerator to facilitate slicing; remove roll
from tin and cut into eight equal slices. Add sugar and lemon juice
to cream and whip till cream holds soft peaks. Lay one slice of date-nut
roll on each of four serving plates, top with berries, sliced banana and
whipped cream; add another layer of date-nut roll, fruits and cream
and chill until ready to serve.

tourism, which is a big factor,
in the Israel economy.
Transportation is depicted at
the pavilion through a model of
an, El Al Israel airliner, while
next to it is a replica of one
of Zim Lines' modern ocean- .
passenger ships. Textiles, fash-
ions, knitwear and swim wear
for men, women and children
are also among the exhibits.

NEW YORK, (JTA) — Israel
opened its pavilion • at the
United States World Trade Fair
after a visit by Vice President
Richard M. Nixon who voiced
high praise for Israel's products
shown here. The exhibit was
visited also by Mayor Robert F.
Wagner, . who officially inaugu-
rated the ten-day fair.
Nixon was formally greeted
by Israel's Ambassador Avra-
ham Harman; Dr. Binyamin
Eliav, Israel's Consul General
here; Arieh Manor, Economic
Minister; Mordechai N a m i r,
Mayor of Tel Aviv; Nathan Ra-
viv, Trade Commissioner and
Moshe Bamberger, director of
the Israel pavilion.
The Vice President asked a
good many questions especially
about a sports car and seemed
impressed when told that the
entire fibre-glass car except for
the engine, was made in Israel.
Israel's expanding industry is
shown through exhibits of met-
als, cutting tools, precision in-
struments, carbide tools, dental
appliances, optical goods and
electrical vibrators.
Within the pavilion there is
a special center graphically il-
lustrating Israeli's investment
opportunities. Visitors are in-
formed that Israel's investment
goal for 1960-65 is $300,000,000.
