Mr. and Mrs. Morris Chasnick, of Second Blvd., are leaving
on June 15 for New York where they will board a plane for a va-
cation in Israel, France and Italy. The Chasnicks will return
home at the end of August.
Mrs. David Kliger, of 18438 Hartwell, received a bachelor of
arts degree at commencement exercises of Mercy College last
Thursday evening. Mrs. Kliger, a registered nurse and civic and
communal women's leader, was president of Lambda Iota Tau,
international honorary literary society, made the Dean's Honor
List and was nominated to "Who's Who Among Students at Amer-
ican Colleges and Universities." Mrs. Kliger actually completed
her course work for a degree last August, and went to Wayne
State University this year, where she completed her course work
leading to a master of arts degree in health administration and
speech. Besides a full academic load, Mrs. Kliger was active in
many affairs of the community. She is past president of the
League of Jewish Women's Organizations and national vice-
president of the National Bureau of Federated Jewish Women.
Prof. Alfred W. Blumrosen, of the law department of Rutgers
University, will be honored at an informal reception for his
family and friends from 8 to 11 p.m., Sunday, in the Lee Plaza
Hotel. No cards.
An open house and garden party will be given in honor of
Harvey Edward Goldberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel B. Gold-
berg, of 19379 Sunderland, from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, in the
family home, in honor of his graduation Saturday from the
University of Michigan dental school. No cards.
At a party given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Shayne,
of Fielding Ave., Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kanter, of Ardmore
Ave., were honored by a group of friends on the occasion of
their 40th wedding anniversary. A framed certificate in their
name was dedicated to the Bar-Ilan University scholarship fund.
The Kanters, active in many communal activities, have two
sons, Paul and Irving, a daughter, Mrs. Leah Yura; and four
grandchildren.
Dr. and Mrs. Louis Kazdan, of 15261 Rosemary, Oak Park,
recently entertained at a family supper in honor of the Bas
Mitzvah of their daughter, Judith, from Cong. Bnai David.
Cantor David Katzman, formerly with Cong. Bnai Moshe
- here and now a resident of California, is visiting in Detroit
with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Katzman,
of 19334 Monica. Cantor Katzman will be at home to his many
friends through June 17.
Jules Doneson, of the Jules Doneson Travel Agency, is pres-
ently in San Juan as a guest of the Puerto Rican Tourist Com-
mission.
Mrs. Abraham Cooper and Mrs. Henry Wineman are vaca-
tioning in San Juan, where they are attending the Pablo Casals
Music Festival.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smilay are at sea aboard the SS United
States for an extended trip to Western Europe and Scandinavia.
Mrs. Sarah Winokur arrived in the Soviet Union last week
for a visit with her family.
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Karden arrived in Moscow today and
will visit their family in Odessa before continuing to Israel and
Europe.
Mrs. Marguerite Kozenn Chajes has left for her 15th consec-
utive concert tour of Europe. Upon the invitation of Vienna's
Vice-Mayor, she will attend the music festivals of that city.
Later, on June 21, she will meet her husband, Mr. Julius Chajes,
in Amsterdam, where they will begin their concert tour together.
The Chajeses are scheduled for appearances over Radio Hilver-
sum in Holland, Radiofusion Francaise in Paris, Radio Lausanne,
Radio Monte Ceneri in Lugano, Radio Brussels, Radio Munich and
the Austrian radio station in Vienna. They will play mostly works
by Chajes and other American composers at the request of the
stations. In August, Mr. and Mrs. Chajes will be guests of the
Austrian government at the S'alzburg Music Festival.

versity of Michigan Medical
School of their son, Lawrence
Elliott, who will begin his in-
ternship at the University of
Michigan Hospital; the gradua-
tion from Mumford High School
of their son, Robert Gary, who
will enter the University of
Michigan, and the graduation of
their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Law-
rence Lee (Sylvia Greenbaum)
from the U. of M. School of
Education.
Their son, Dr. Martin L. Lee,
is now completing his residency
training at the U. of M. Hos-
pital. For the next two years
he and his family will be sta-
tioned in Topeka, Ka., while he
is serving in the U. S. Air
Force.

Dolores Jeanne Surowitz and
Stephen Kenneth Rothman.
Rabbi Israel Goodman officiated
at the candlelight ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. George Surowitz,
of W. Iroquois Rd., Pontiac. The
bridegroom's parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Samuel Rothman, of
Toledo, 0.
The new Mrs. Rothman chose
a short-sleeved gown with Alen-
con lace motifs appliqued on
the portrait neckline and fitted
bodice. Her floor-length gown
formed an empire t r a i n that
also was appliqued with the lace
and seed pearls.
Her fingertip veil of im-
ported French illusion, accented
with Alencon lace and seed
pearls, fell from a halo-like
crown, and she carried a bou-
quet of stephanotis, ivy and
white orchids on a prayerbook.
Rhoda Goldberg, of Pontiac,
was maid of honor, and brides-
maids were Elaine Surowitz and
Barbara Stoler, of Detroit, and
Sharon Rodd, of Oak Park. The
bride's sister, Rosalind Surowitz,
was junior bridesmaid.
