The Women's Division raised $619,756 in the 1960 Allied Jew-
ish Campaign.

The third annual Institute for
Program Planners of organiza-
tions affiliated with the Jewish
Community Council will be held
at 8 p.m., June 15, in the social
hall of Cong. Ahavas Achim,
19190 Schaefer, it is announced
by Dr. Samuel Krohn, Council
vice-president and chairman of
the internal relations commit-
tee, and Hubert Sidlow, Insti-
tute chairman and member of
the Council's executive commit-
tee.
The Institute was organized
to help answer frequently posed
questions by members of organ-
izations as to what can be done
to stimulate increased parti-
cipation and attendance at or-
ganizational meetings, and to
help strengthen the Council
family of 340 organizations
through more varied and mean-
ingful activities of a Jewish nat-
ure.
The Institute will feature
presentations b y community
leaders discussing the philos-
ophy underlying Jewish pro-
gramming, as well as novel pro-
gram experiences by represent-
ativeS of organizations that had
arranged them.
There will also be ample op-
portunity for those attending
to discuss in small buzz groups
some of the problems they have
faced and to s h a r e program
ideas and experiences of their
own organization, with the rep-
resentatives of other organiza-
tions. Sidlow and Dr. Krohn
stated that the Institute is an-
other aspect of the Jewish Com-
munity Council's program serv-
ice for organizations. Refresh-
ments will be served.
Address by Glazer
to Conclude Clinic
"Images of an American" will
be the theme of the fourth and
final session of the 1959-60
Leadership Clinic Monday, at
the McGregor Memorial Com-
munity Conference Center, Sec-
ond at Ferry streets.
Keynoting the clinic at a
noon luncheon will be Nathan
Glazer, co-author of "The Lone-
ly Crowd," former associate ed-
itor of Commentary.
Presented by the Coordinat-
ing Council on Human Relations
in cooperation with the Detroit
Commission on Community Re-
lations, the clinic will also fea-
ture an afternoon panel discus-
sion involving seven experts on
mass communications.
Norman Perlstein, midwest
regional director of the Ameri-
can Jewish Congress and chair-
man of the clinic and session,
said: "This Clinic will consider
the harmful images, myths and
stereotypes that people in
America hold about one anoth-
er, and consider steps that can
be taken to remove these bar-
riers to equal opportunity for
all."
The session is free and the
public is invited, Perlstein said.

Borman Food Stores, Inc.,
which operates 47 stores in the
Metropolitan Detroit area, this
week acquired the nine Lipson
Supermarkets operated by the
Lip s on-Gourwi tz Co.
Tom Borman made known the
agreement on behalf of the Bor-
man Stores. The Lipson sale
was announced by Philip Lip-
son.
Under the new set-up, the
Borman Food Stores now will
operate 56 Food Fair Markets.
The Borman stock now is on
the New York Stock Exchange,
it also was announced this
week.
