Golda Meir, who will address
the Bond dinner at Hotel
Statler-Hilton on Tuesday eve-

Record - breaking sales of
State of Israel Bonds are re-

by Tom Borman, general chair-

that vast increases in sales
are awaited that night. Bond
leaders here said they were
confident that the goal of
$1,500,000 set for this year
will be attained.
The increasing interest in
Bond sales, local leaders state,
was generated by the visit here

troit's most prominent reli-
gious, civic and business lead-
ers will attend the dinner.

Meir in behalf of the City
- of Detroit.
A series of important meet-
ings at the homes of outstand-
ing leaders in the Detroit Jew-

high pitch and excitement in

Mrs. Meir Leaves for
U.S. ; Will Meet with
State Dept. Officials

JERUSALEM, (JTA)—Satis- •
faction with the present state
of relations between the United
States and Israel was expressed
here prior to her departure for
the United States of Mrs. Golda
Meir, Israel's Foreign Minister.
Informed sources indicated 0,*
that some of the promises re
ceived by Prime Minister David
Ben-Gurion during his recent
visit to Washington, are already
in the stage of negotiation for
early implementation. Others,
which were less promising, are
still being discussed.
It was indicated that an eco-
nomic aid project of major
importance had already been
approved in principle in Wash-
ington. On the other hand, it
was reported reliably, Israel
has failed to attain American
support of its dseire to affiliate
in some fashion with European
or Atlantic economic organiza-
tions. The State Department in
Washington was understood to
desire to avoid possible com-
plications which might develop
from such American support.
Mrs. Meir, who will remain
in the United States for about
five weeks, and also will visit
Canada, said in a statement
before her departure that she
would meet with State Depart-
ment officials including Secre-
tary of State Christian Herter
and Undersecretary C. Douglas
Dillon. She will tour the two
countries on behalf of the
United Jewish Appeal and the
Israel Bond Organization.
