In a statement this w e e k, Clifton A. - Eldridge, assistant superintendent of schools, ad- vised that the schools are not closing for the holiday but be- cause of it. He added that it is "educa- tionally a n d administratively unsound" to keep the schools open when such a large per- centage of the student body and faculty is out because of the holidays. Eldridge's statement . should allay any suspicions that there is in the school closing any dan- ger of a church-state contro- versy.
