The book, "People Without Leadership," was ruled "trea- sonous to democratic order." Publisher Leonhard Schleuter, who served for two weeks in 1955 as Minister of Education in Lower Saxony, was fined 1,200 marks, Author Herbert Grabert was given a nine-month prison term and the sentence was suspended for three years. Grabert also is the editor of the "G e r m a n High School Teachers Periodical," which is published in Tubingen and dis- tributed to former Nazi teach- ers. Grabert asserted in the last issue of the periodical that from 1942 to 1944 "a conspiracy circle of 100 behind Hitler's back had murdered 350,000 to 500,000 Jews." NEW YORK, (JTA)—A 90- minute television program doc- umenting the 1943 uprising of the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto, broadcast nationally over the CBS-TV network, has drawn hundreds of protes..s from Ger- man Americans, who abject to "reawakening of old racial an- tagonisms," a spokesman for CBS-TV reported, but the pro- gram "went on as produced on tape." The show, "In the Presence of Mine Enemies," was written by one of television's outstand- ing playwrights, Rod Serling. It starred famous American actors, includin g. Charles Laughton, Arthur Kennedy, Su- san Kohner and Oscar Homolka. "Mine Enemies" has been a source of contention for up- ward of 18 months. Serling originally wrote the program for production last year, but sponsors vetoed it as "too con- troversial."
