Activities in behalf of the current Israel Bond campaign
were spurred at an enthusiastic gathering of the Women's
Division, held Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Nathan
Silverman. The women were mobilized for increased Israel
Bond efforts in an address by Captain Zvi Kenaan of the
Israel Navy. In the photograph taken at that gathering are,
from the left: Mrs. Silverman, Mrs. Joseph Katchke, co-chair-
man of the Women's Division, Captain Kenaan, Mrs. Max
Stollman, Women's Division co-chairman, and Mrs. Harry
Nachman, chairman of Sponsors. The Women's Division is
actively assisting in arrangements for the Israel Bond dinner
on June '7, at . Hotel Statler, at which Israel's Foreign Minister
Golda Meir will be the guest speaker.

Comay to Address
UJA June Parley

Ambassador Michael Comay,
Israel's Permanent Representa-
tive to the United Nations, will
deliver the keynote address at
the National Midyear Leader-
ship Conference of the United
Jewish Appeal, June 18 and 19,
at Washington, D. C., Morris W.
Berinstein, UJA general chair-
man, announced.
Another conference speaker
will be Dr. Abram L. Sachar,
president of Brandeis Univer-
sity.
Leaders from hundreds of
communities throughout the na-
tion will report on their com-
munities' activity for the 1960
UJA campaign, help to formu-
late plans for the final phases
of the year's UJA drive, and
present cash raised in the cur-
rent nationwide drive for $35,-
000,000.
Shortage of cash is hamper-
ing the operations of UJA agen-
cies in critical overseas areas,
it has been stressed by Melvin
Dubinsky, UJA national cash
chairman. Dubinsky reported
that word is being received
from overseas of critical lack
of funds with which to carry
out programs affecting the lives
and welfare of more than
600,000 people.
