Mr. and Mrs. Israel Levenstein, of San Juan Dr., have left for a two-week stay in Los Angeles, Calif. During their visit, they will attend the Bar Mitzvah of their nephew. • Miss Rochelle Shiffman, of Beverly Hills, Calif., and for- merly of Detroit, is now visiting with her sister Mrs. Alvin Solomon, of 20256 Avon. The Misses Harriet, Myra and Sandra Krause, together with brother Joel, ages 12 and under, held a fund-raising carnival among the young residents of Oak Park, in the vicinity of Jerome Ave. Proceeds, which came to $3.64 were presented to the American Haven Club, whose activities are concerned primarily with child rescue work. The entrepreneurs are the children of Dr. and Mrs. Jerome Krause, of Jerome Ave. Reva Kowalsky and Jerome Stasson will present pupils in a piano and violin recital at Baldwin Recital Hall, at 8 p.m. Thursday. State Delegation at AJC Parley Zeldon Cohen, president of the Michigan Council of the American Jewish Congress, will lead a state delegation of A. J. Congress members to the bien- nial convention of the Ameri- can Jewish Congress being held this weekend in New York. The Michigan delegation, which will include representa- tives of the various men's and women's chapters in the Metro- politan area, will help fashion A. J. Congress policy for the next two years. The convention, which will include the election of nation- al officers and a review of A. J. Several members of the Mich- igan delegation are expected to take part in workshops and spe- cial programs outlining the work of the Commission on Law and Social Action, the Commis- sion on International affairs and the Commission on Jewish Living. Adas Shalom Men Re-Elect Koenig Joseph Koenig was recently re-elected president of the Men's Club of Adas Shalom Syna- gogue, the first president of the organization to succeed himself in office. Elected with Koenig were Saul Waldman and Jack Kauf- man, vice-presidents; Dr. Ted Winshall and Ben Bayer, secre- taries; and William Zimmerman, treasurer. Serving on the board of di- rectors are Allan Warsen, Aaron Kutnick, Hy Krupp, Morris Zel- enko, Dr. Louis Beresh, Herman Raskin, Charles Benjamin and Carl Lichtenstein. Appointed to the board by the president were George Meyerson and Emanuel Feinberg. Gubow to Head. Memorial Home Lawrence Gubow was elected president of the Jewish War Veterans Memorial Home As- sociation for the 1960-61 sea- son at the annual convention of the association. Serving with Gubow are: vice presidents, Mrs. Philip Bernstein, Alfred Brick- er and Albert Rosen; and treas- urer, Mrs. Jock Schwartz. A past Commander of the De- partment of Michigan of the Jewish War Veterans, and pres- ently a member of its national executive committee, Gubow also has been active in other veteran groups. He is judge advocate of the Detroit Districts Association of the American Legion and is chairman of the legislative committee of the Allied Veterans Council. Gubow was National Presi dent of the 106 Infantry Asso- ciation and in 1959 was selected at the Michigan State Fair as "Michigan's Veteran of the Year." The Jewish War Veterans Me- morial Home Association admin- isters the Home at 4095 W. Davison which is maintained as the shrine to Michigan's Jewish war dead of World War II and the Korean action.
