ness and plenary sessions, there
will be workshops and a num-
ber of special programs, accord-
ing to Mrs. Joseph M...Markel,
president of the Michigan
branch.
Mrs. Louis Tatken will be
moderator of a panel discussion
on "Social Action and Israeli
Affairs."
Rabbi Moses Lehrman, of Oak
Park's Cong. Bnai Moshe, will
install incoming officers and
board members at the luncheon
session Tuesday.
Another highlight of the
three-day parley will be a musi-
cal program honoring the 12th
anniversary of Israel and the
organization's Torah Fun d.
The musical salute will be
presented by the Adas Shalom
and Beth Aaron Sisterhood
Choral Groups, directed by Mrs.
Markel and accompanied by
Mrs. George Bassin.
Mrs. Kamsler, the major
speaker at the conference, is
managing editor of Outlook, the
League's publication, and is a
free-lance contributor to many

national magazines. Her hus-
band is Rabbi Harold M. Karns-
ler, spiritual leader of the Nor-
ristown, Pa., Jewish Community
Center.

Council to Elect
Officers Tuesday

The season's concluding dele-
gate assembly of the Jewish
Community Council will be held
at 8:15 p.m., Tuesday, at the
Esther Berman Branch of the
United Hebrew Schools.
Featured on the agenda will
be a summary, "The Season
Behind Us." Participants will
be the chairmen of the Council's
major standing committees who
will evaluate the activities of
the season drawing to a close.
Louis Rosenzweig, chairman of
the community relations com-
mittee; Dr. Leonard Sidlow,
chairman of the culture com-
mission, and Dr. Samuel Krohn,
chairman of the internal rela-
tions committee, will take part
in the program.
New officers and executive
committee members of the
Council will be elected and in-
stalled and a recognition pro-
gram will be presided over by
Sidney M. Shevitz, a past presi-
dent of the Jewish Community
Council.
Nominees for Council posi-
tions are headed by the nominee
for president, Stanley J. Winkel-
man.
The members of the Auxiliary
of the United Hebrew Schools,
under the chairmanship of Mrs.
Irving Arlin, president, will
serve as hostesses at a social
hour after the assembly.

`Israel Has Come
to Stay,' States
Pakistan Prexy

LONDON, (JTA) — Field
Marshal Ayub Khan, President
of Pakistan, declared here that
"Israel has come to stay."
The affirmation of Israel's
status as a de facto state was
made by the leader of the Mos-
lem country at a luncheon ten-
dered him by military corres-
pondents here. Parkistan has
always supported the Arab
states in their negative views
regarding Israel.
The Pakistan leader declined,
however, to comment on the
current situation in the Middle
East in general, or, specifically,
on the United Arab Republic's
blockade of the. Suez Canal
against • Israeli shipping and
goods.

JNF Auxiliary Sets
Election Meeting

A general meeting of the
Jewish National Fund will be
convened at 12:30 p.m., Tues-
day, in Beth Aaron Synagogue.
Mrs. Max Stollman, chairman
of the nominating committee,
will present the slate of officers
to be voted upon for the coming
year.
A skit, "The Chassid and the
Balagula," will be presented by
the JNF dramatic group, ac-
cording to Mrs. William Schu-
mer, program chairman. They
will be assisted by the Bnai
David Sisterhood Choral Group,
directed by Cantor Hyman J.
Adler.
Dessert luncheon is being
prepared by the social commit-
tee. Mrs. Abraham Goldstein,
chairman, is assisted by Mes-
dames Morris Davis, Leo Lesser,
Ben Minns and Albert Spinner.

Slate Panel on Family Counseling
for Agencies' Annual Meeting

Family counseling, as seen by
a prominent Detroit doctor, law-
yer, rabbi and social worker will
be the theme of the annual
meeting of the Jewish Family
and Children's Service and Re-
settlement Service on Sunday
afternoon at the Jewish Com-
munity Center, 18100 Meyers.
Mrs. Charles Lakoff, commu-
nity leader long identified with
social welfare activities, will
moderate a panel which will
include Irwin Simon, who will
discuss a lawyer's view of fam-
ily counseling; Dr. Raymond A.
Sokolov, Rabbi Max Kapustin
and Prof. Clarice Freud.
The annual meeting will hear
reports on the JFCS by presi-
dent Milford R. Pregerson and
the Resettlement Service by
president Nathan Milstein.
There will also be election of
a new board for the JFCS and
officers for the Resettlement
Service.
Dr. Irving Posner who has

served as medical director the
JFCS child placement depart-
ment will be honored with a
special tribute. Dr. Posner has
not only been active on many
agency committees, he has serv-
ed the community welfare pro-
gram in many capacities.
The public is invited to at-
tend the reception which will
begin at 2:30 p.m. and the for-
mal meeting, at 3 p.m.
