Israel Bond Campaign leaders, at 1960 planning meeting, left to right: Phillip Stollman, Max Bressler, of Chicago, guest speaker; John Lurie, Abe Kasle, Tom Borman, 1959-1960 Israel Bond campaign chairman, and David Safran. Detroit's Israel Bond Organ- ization last week mobilized its leadership forces in preparation for the 1960 campaign. Tom Borman, the 1959-60 chairman, who presided at a dinner meeting April 21, ex- pressed the hope that the 1960 sales will reach the $1,500,000, thus assisting the national or- ganization in exceeding the $500,000,000 mark on the tenth anniversary of the Bond activ- ities, since they were set in motion in 1951. The guest speaker at the leadership meeting was Max Bressler, nationally prominent Zionist leader, who admonish- ed his audience that "our investments in Israel are linked with human happiness we seek for our fellow-men and with the human misery we aim to wipe out." "By 'purchasing Bonds," Bres- sler said, "we rise to acknowl- edge the unity of the Jewish people and its Torah. We re- store faith, hope and happiness to our people whom we thereby are removing from the throes of charity and are giving them an opportunity to be self-sus- staining. There are no risks attached to Bond purchases, in view of the historic collateral that is offered by an economi- cally efficient Israel." Bressler explained a plan • he proposed to the national Bond organization, which is being put into effect, for a new Van-Guardian category —of Guardians, purchasers of $1,000 Bonds, each enrolling 1=1 now as low as... 1 5' NYLON 10 additional Guardians.
