Michael Camay, Ambassador
of Israel to the United Nations,
will deliver the keynote ad-
dress. Comay has been associ-
ated with the Israeli diplomatic
corps since Israel was • estab-
lished. A native of South
Africa, he played a prominent
role in interpreting the Jewish
position to various inter-govern-
mental bodies. Most recently
he served as Ambassador of
Israel to Canada. His success-
ful diplomatic experience led
to his being selected by the
Israeli cabinet to replace Abba
Eban in his important post at
the United Nations.
A colorful artistic program,
with the - participation of noted
Israeli artists, will be presented.

NAACP Honors Jew
Serving as Nat'l Veep

NEW YORK, (JTA)—A Des
Moines, Ia., Jewish leader, who
is national vice-president of
the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People,
has completed 30 years of serv-
ice to the NAACP, the Associa-
tion reported.
He is Ike Smalls, president
of the Beth Jacob Synagogue,
and a member of the board of
governors of the Midwestern
States Region of the American
Association for Jewish Educa-
tion.
He is best known to NAACP
members for the Ike Smalls
award, presented annually at
the NAACP convention to a
chapter showing the largest
percentage of membership in-
crease for the year. While he
has been a top NAACP officer
since 1950, he worked his way
up from a start with the Des
Moines branch in 1930.
