Average Giving Up 8 Per Cent "From now until the 1960 Allied Jewish Campaign closes, on Monday evening, May 2, eight is the magic number," said Irwin I. Cohn, campaign chairman, explaining that "to date, out of the first $3,600,- 000 raised in the 1960 Allied Jewish Campaign, the totals show an average increase of eight percent." Every giver from now to the end of the campaign, whose contribution is eight percent or more over last year's gift, is helping to keep the average increase on its present level— and, beyond an eight percent increase, is helping to raise the average and the overall total. "The object is not to limit our- selves to the arithmetic. It is easy to understand the arith- metic of these facts. If we go beyond the eight percent or more, there is even grander magic in the extra wonders that greater giving will per- form for people at home and abroad who need our help," Cohn said. Cohn announced _that the cam- paign will close officially at 6:30 p.m., May 2, at the Jewish Center, 18100 Meyers. Dr. William Haber, one of the nation's foremost econo- mists and one of the keenest analysts of the Jewish scene, will deliver the main address, and Miriam Hadar, Miss Israel -1 DR.
