Local Lubavitcher Group Seeking
550 More Members in New Drive

Isadore Starr is serving as
chairman and Ernest Citron and
George Zalman have been
named honorary chairmen of a
membership campaign current-
ly being conducted by the Mer-
kos L'Inyonei Chinuch.
The organization, associated
with the Chabad movement of
Rabbi Menachem Schneerson,
the Lubavitcher R e b b e in
Brooklyn, N.Y., is seeking to
enroll 550 members between
Passover and Shavuot. The
group already has a nucleus of
200 members.
In an announcement this
week, Rabbi Sholom B. Shem-
tov, director of the Detroit
branch of Chabad, stated that
Rabbi Schneerson will send 10
young American scholars to Is-
rael to establish new schools in
the Lubavitcher school system.
He also advised that in Moroc-
co, where the entire Jewish sec-
tion of Agadir was obliterated
during the recent earthquake,
including the death of 40 of the
80 students attending the Luba-
vitcher Yeshiva, a new school
will be established in their
memory.

the drive for local members are
David I. Berris, David J. Cohen,
Morris Dorn and Irving W.
Schlussel, vice-chairmen; and
Sam Aaron, Henry L. Bale,
Samuel Brown, Hyman Kaber,
