By ALAN SCHWARTZ
Some 39 Mumford students
are now in•Mexico as the spring
vacation comes to a close. The
Mumfordites, with students
from Oak Park, Ferndale, Pleas-
ant Ridge and Southfield, are
spending 10 days in Mexico.
Among their activities are a
trip to Acapulco, the bullfights,
and the Aztec burial grounds.
Response to Mumford's new
literary magazine was very
good, and another issue is being
prepared. The 300 copies that
were put on sale were gone in
a matter of hours, showing the
great , demand for the magazine
by students. The magazine's
editor-in-chief is Larry Jackier,
and the faculty adviser is Rosa-
lind Olmsted. The "Muse" con-
sists of poetry and fiction, and
there is a section in which tal-
ented Mumford students at-
tempt 'to write in the same
styles as the "greats" of litera-
ture. This section is entitled
"Imitations of Immortality."
A new course in precision in-
spection is becoming a part of
the curriculum beginning in
September. The course is being
offered to acquaint students
with the infrequently used deci-
mal system of measuring., Al-
though our schools teach pri-
marily the fractional system of
measuring, the decimal system
is used for almost all of the pre-
cision work done in the country.
Mumford's city champions
are looking for their third con-
secutive tennis title this spring.
Although ,the team has lost . six
of - last year-'s letter winners,
there are "enoughreturning let-
termen to insure another good
year. The team's hopes depend
greatly on Barry Bershad, Mike
Grayson, Larry Jackier and
Howard Kaplan, all of whom
were with the team last year.
Members of the Mumford
Current Affairs Club-44 strong
—visited Lansing on April 6.
The group was greeted by Gov.
Williams, and addressed by
Lt. Gov. Swainson and Rep.
George Montgomery and Jo-
seph Gillis. The group also
toured the offices of the Sec-
retary of State and the Attor-
ney General.
