6 THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS — Friday, April 8, 196 0 — Grant Approval to American Nazis to Open Quarters in Arlington Mechanics Trades Leads All AJC Divisions , ARLINGTON, Va. (JTA) — The Arlington County zoning office granted a permit for the "American Nazi party" to set up headquarters in a house here at 928 N. Randolph Street. The permit granted George Lincoln Rockwell, self styled fuehrer, the right to have Nazi offices in the building but not mass meetings. In Washington, Rockwell an- nounced that next Sunday and every Sunday thereafter his movement will hold mass rallies in the tourist center of Wash- ington, adjacent to the Mall, between the Washington Mon- ument and the Capitol Building. He said his forces would use an area designated by the Na- tional Capitol Parks Division of the U.S. Department of The Interior "for free exercise of every American's right to free speech." In letters announcing, the meetings, Rockwell's litera- ture carried the slogan: Na- tional - Sozialisten Der Welt, Kampft Vereinigt" (Nazis of the World, Fight in United Ranks.) District authorities have prepared plans for police protection of Rockwell's Nazis. Ask for .. . Passover Gefilte Fish Community Urged to Re-Intensify Allied Campaign Efforts During Passover Week Irwin I. Cohen, chairman of the Allied Jewish Campaign, and Max Fisher, president of the Jewish Welfare Federation, in a joint statement, called on members of our community for re-intensified • support of the campaign during Passover week. "Passover was mankind's first independence day," Fisher and Cohn said. "For Jews every- where, for the last 3,000 years, it has been a time or renewing their devotion to freedom. "It is a festival which has served to inspire free men ev- erywhere; and in our own time it has assumed an even deeper significance because of the op- pression and persecution from which millions of our fellow- Miami Anglers Look for Record Catches; Vacationer Kept Busy MIAMI BEACH.—Fast action with tarpon is featuring the closing days of the 25th annual Metropolitan Miami Fishing tournament. A big surge in tarpon entries is expected at this time, for the silver kings arrive in force dur- ing early April on their annual migration into South Florida waters. From now until July the angler can count on excellent tarpon fishing. Plug casting and fly fisher- men both upped the seasonal record for tarpon last week. Best so far for the plug casters is a 99-pounder taken in Gov- ernment Cut, only five minutes from the Miami Beach charter boat- docks. Fishing, while fine at this season, is far from being the only pastime for visitors. There are two 18-hole municipal golf courses, two tennis centers and other recreational areas. Top entertainment may be chosen from any of several night clubs, greyhound racing, sightseeing, shopping, theater, swimming, concerts and boxing. Reduced hotel rates, sliced some 30 per cent from winter tariffs, are just as pleasant for the April visitor as is the even- tempered weather.
