NEW DELHI, (JTA)—Presi-
dent Nasser of the United Arab
Republic, continuing a policy
of avoiding a direct mention of
Israel by name during his state
visit to India, cited the exis-
tence of the Jewish State as
one of the reasons he was op-
posed to general disarmament.
Speaking before the Indian
Parliament, he said it was not
enough to raise banners carry-
ing the slogan of "demilitariza-
tion." He said if disarmament
"is to have any value at all,
we must remedy the causes that
sometimes impose on certain
people the carrying of arms."
He said no better proof could
be offered than "two cases" in
his own area, the Middle East.
The first was the case "of the
Palestine people driven out of
their homes, their land usurped,
their property looted, their
future destroyed. and their basic
right to life denied." The second
was that of Algeria.
While the UAR leader has so
far refrained from denouncing
Israel by name, the UAR mis-
sion in New Delhi has been
disseminating large quantities
of anti-Israel propaganda ma-
terial.
It was reported here that
Nasser told Prime Minister
Nehru that "undue importance"
was being given to Israel's right
of transit in the Suez Canal.
The UAR leader was reported
to have made that response
when Premier Nehru raised the
question of the UAR blockade

GENEVA. — Charles H. Jor-
dan, overseas director general
of the Joint Distribution Com-
mittee, Tuesday denied a report
that 500 Jewish survivors of the
Agadir earthquake had been left
to fend for themselves after be-
ing turned out of the Moroccan
army barracks at La Jonquiere,
near Casablanca.
Jordan reported that 300 of
the Jewish refugees are being
sheltered in private homes in
Casablanca and other cities un-
der plans worked out by the
JDC and the Jewish community
of Casablanca. The other 170
refugees have returned to their
homes in the village of Inez-
gane, several miles from Agadir
which sustained little damage in
the earthquake.
Jordan, who directs the over-
seas relief and welfare oper-
ations of the JDC, major Ameri-
can agency aiding distressed
Jews abroad, has been in close
touch with the agency's office.
in Casablanca since the disaster.
He indicated that JDC will con-
tinue to supply food, clothing,
medical care and other assist-
ance to those refugees still
needing them with funds pro-
vided by the United Jewish
Appeal.
The welfare leader noted that
the housing of the Agadir refu-
gees in army barracks at La
Jonquiere had been an emer-
gency measure. It had been
clearly understood, he added,
that this was to be only a tem-
porary expedient until other
arrangements could be made.

Aim to Extend Time for
Prosecution of Nazis

BONN, (JTA) — The West
German Social Democratic
party introduced a motion in
the Bundestag, Lower House, to
extend by four years the time
limit for prosecution of former
Nazis.
The motion proposed by the
opposition r rty would extend
the limit, which under present
law is next May 8, to May 8,
1964. In the absence of such
an extension former Nazis will
be immune to prosecution after
next May 8.

have said that no heed was
being given to United Nations
