Shelley Winters Wins an 'Oscar'

M: Ben Lewis of Detroit was
named Shekel chairman for the
Michigan Zionist Region, it was
announced by Milton S. Marwil,
regional president.
In accepting the appointment,
Lewis said "that the Shekel has
been, for • over 60 ye,ars, a
symbol of Jewish identification
with Zion and an expression of
our people's faith in Israel and
its historic mission. This year,
marking the 100th anniversary
of the birth of Theodor Herzl,
has been designated as Herzl
Year and the 25th World Zionist
Congress in Jerusalem in , De-
cember will be known as the
Herzl Congress. By acquiring
the Herzl Shekel, every Jew will
have an opportunity to parti-
pate in determining the policies
of the Zionist movement."
Max - Bressler, of Chicago, is
national chairman of the ZOA
Shekel campaign. -
The price of the Shekel is 35
cents; Shekel books are obtain-

Actress Shelley Winters was voted the best support-
ing actress in the "Oscar" balloting. She was named for her
performance in "Diary of Anne Frank."

post as chairman of the Mt.
Clemens Committee for the
Mt. Clemens-Pontiac-Port Hu-

Paul M. Jelinek, a leading
Christian supporter of State of
Israel Bonds, and Louis M. Da-
vis will serve as co-chairmen
for Mt. Clemens. Samuel J.
Levine will be ticket chairman
for the May 7 dinner at the
Colonia Hotel which will cli-
